About EstimateYard
EstimateYard builds free construction-materials calculators that give the finished answer — quantities, bag counts, and realistic costs — instead of a bare number.
The site exists because most material math online is either a generic unit converter or a contractor pitch. If you’re pouring a patio this weekend, you need three things: how much to order, whether bags or a truck makes sense, and what a fair price looks like right now. That’s what every tool here is built to answer.
Our standards
- Every formula is published. Each calculator has a methodology section showing exactly how it computes — formulas, yields, densities, and waste factors — so you (or your contractor) can check the math.
- Every price is dated. Cost estimates use national-average prices with a visible “last updated” stamp, refreshed on a schedule and re-verified against published sources. National averages are planning numbers — local quotes always win.
- Tools stay free and instant. No sign-up, no paywall, no gating. The site is supported by advertising, clearly separated from the tools (see Advertise).
- Corrections are welcome. If a number looks wrong, we want to know and we fix it.
What this site is not
EstimateYard is a planning tool, not an engineering service. Structural decisions — slab thickness for loads, reinforcement, footings, spans — are governed by local building codes and site conditions. Use our estimates to plan and budget; use your building department and licensed pros to build.
